Serial-Over-Lan

With the Serial-Over-Lan service, access your machine's console through a secure connection any-time, anywhere. The console (series) is accessible through an SSH connection or from any web browser, even from your smartphone or your tablet (HTML+Javascript).

Use Serial-Over-Lan from your Manager.

Connect to your server from an iPad with Serial-Over-Lan.

To do this, go to your manager and click on "Serial-Over-Lan" in the Services section. You will be able to choose:

  • connect to the console directly from your browser;
  • create an SSH session from your public SSH key that you have previously registered.

Encrypted end to end, so the connection is completely secure. For security reasons, the session has a lifespan of 24 hours. Don't forget to "log out" before leaving the session.

You can take control of a server that isn't working and identify the causes of the problem. As the connection is via the serial port of the server and not by the network interface, you can connect to your server, even if it does not ping (poorly configured firewall, network configuration error). The network can be reconfigured without rebooting the machine.

Available on all our EG, MG et HG 2011 servers with the "professional use" option, Serial-Over-Lan feature under Linux and requires a configuration (see our guide).
