What is a Virtual Rack?
Virtual Rack brings together several virtual servers (no matter how many or their physical location in our datacentre) and connect to a virtual switch within the same private network. Your servers can communicate privately and securely between them (in a dedicated VLAN).

You do not have to worry about lease of racks in a datacentre, we deliver the servers and the switch, install and ensure hardware maintenance. With our Virtual Rack, you can focus on the heart of your business and leave OVH to manage your hardware and network infrastructure. Better still, the Virtual Rack offers greater flexibility and more - it has no limit! You decide when you want to add a new machine to your Virtual Rack.

You communicate your servers securely within your private network (VLAN). You can either, make your server accessible only from your private network and/or public network. Your private network is physically managed by OVH, no application software or network configuration are required on your servers.

How can I place an order for a virtual rack?

The Virtual Rack is compatible with all 1Gbps server ranges KS, KimFS, EG, MG, HG**, and the 100Mbps servers of the SP series.You individually select the servers you want to add or remove from your Virtual Rack, directly from your Manager.
How and how long will my virtual rack take to be commissioned?
There will be an almost undetectable cut of your connection to your server (3 seconds, is the time required to reconfigure your network). Your server will not be rewired, or moved and will continue to operate as before!
You will then receive an email with the information to start using your Virtual Rack network.

The activation a 100 Mbps server within your virtual rack has resulted in the temporary disabling of the public network on your server. The systems for monitoring, reinstallation and netboot, and also the public network will be inaccessible while your server is active within your virtual rack. You can always restore these services by disabling the dedicated server in your Virtual Rack.
