Which dedicated server should I choose?

We design bare-metal server configurations for flexible business usage, with 100% dedicated resources. Depending on how you intend to use the server, you can choose from a number of ranges that offer adapted resources — processing power, RAM, storage space, a variety of disks, and much more.

To help you choose, each range lists a number of use cases that will give you an idea of the possibilities offered by our bare-metal dedicated servers. Our anti-DDoS protection is deployed across all of our servers, and a special type of anti-DDoS protection designed for gaming is deployed on our range of gaming dedicated servers. For network options, we offer a range of bandwidth capacities, unlimited traffic (excluding servers hosted in the Asia-Pacific region), and a private connection of up to 10Gbit/s so that you can manage your budget.

How do I choose between a VPS and a web hosting plan?

Shared hosting solutions offer access to high-quality services that are essential for a website to work properly. This means they're perfect for individuals or companies who are looking to host a blog or website, but have minimal technical knowledge of how web hosting works.

A VPS goes even further, offering a lot more flexibility in terms of usage, configuration and access (root, php.ini, etc.). You can install software of your choice, and choose between Windows and Linux operating systems. What advantages does a VPS offer compared to a dedicated server?
A VPS provides you with resources that are specifically adapted to your project. By just using what you need, you can save a lot of money. If your project grows, your VPS can grow with it. You can upgrade to a higher range to get more CPU, RAM and disk space.

How do I get started using the Public Cloud?
Simply go to the OVHcloud Control Panel. Create a Public Cloud project, and launch your resource from the services available in your menu. What is the difference between Public Cloud and Private Cloud?

Public Cloud instances are solutions that offer cloud resources like computing capacity, storage space, network and orchestration tools. You get a containerisation platform, and much more — and the cloud services are hosted on shared infrastructures based on OpenStack. They offer a high capacity for scaling up, with pay-as-you-go billing (mostly billed by the hour) and granularity, so that you can manage your budget simply and transparently.

The Private Cloud is a dedicated cloud solution with an additional level of isolation. You have full access to the entire server's resources, as there are no other users on it. Virtualisation is orchestrated with VMware software. As a cluster administrator, you fully manage the infrastructure in a way that best suits your needs.
