Reliable servers for hosting your e-commerce websites and applications
A full range of web hosting servers. If your projects need more resources than our shared hosting plans can offer, then dedicated servers are the right answer for you. You are completely free to manage the technical aspects of a dedicated server, and adapt them to suit your own needs.
Our Hosting range offers balanced configurations for web hosting. It is designed to offer high availability, handle increased traffic, and meet the highest needs in terms of data security and backup. We offer 500 GB storage space for backups, to protect you against any data loss.
The advantages of Hosting servers
The entire Hosting range is based on the Intel® Xeon® D platform, which guarantees that your applications will be compatible with our all of our servers. With Intel® Xeon® D processors, we can also offer high-performance features at an affordable price.
vRack private network included
All of our servers in the Hosting range come with the OVH private network (vRack) included, with 100 Mbps bandwidth. With vRack, you can connect your OVH products to one another via an encrypted, secure network, provided that they are vRack-compatible.
A wide range of operating systems
You can choose from a number of operating systems, which come pre-installed on your OVH Hosting dedicated server. Both Linux distributions and Windows operating systems are included in this range, as well as web hosting control panels (Plesk, cPanel, etc.), SQL Server, and virtualisation tools such as VMware and Proxmox.
Uses for a Hosting server
Host your e-commerce websites, with thousands of products. Give your customers an online store with pages that load quickly, and no service interruptions.
No limits in terms of how you develop and host your applications. You manage all of the technical aspects of your server, and can benefit from a number of options, such as peak load absorption via a Public Cloud instance.
Deploy a network of websites hosted on one or more physical servers. Manage your websites easily in a way that works best for you, on an infrastructure suited to your projects.
What is a web server?
A web server is a machine designed to host applications and websites (e-commerce, blogs, etc.). The server hosts the website's files, as well as its database (if it's a dynamic website). Several services are required to ensure that a web server works properly: Apache for HTTP requests, MySQL to manage databases, and FTP to send website files to the server. An SMTP service can also be set up to send and receive emails.
Choosing between a dedicated server and shared hosting
It is important to estimate the resources you need before you make a choice. If you want to host a small website that just includes a few pages generating low traffic, then shared hosting is the best choice for you. Shared hosting solutions come at a lower cost, as several customers share the resources of a single physical server. It is important to keep in mind that since the resources are shared between several users, they are not guaranteed. Administration is reduced to a bare minimum for shared hosting solutions, to make them accessible to users with basic technical knowledge.
For larger scale projects, we recommend choosing a dedicated server. Dedicated servers give you full control of your server's technical configuration, and you get guaranteed resources. With high computing power, fast data processing, large volumes of storage space and the option of adding your server to an infrastructure of your choice, you will have the flexibility to develop your websites and applications.
